TESTIMONIALS‘This is a wonderful workshop that is suitable for music and non music students alike. It is very beneficial to Leaving Cert Applied students taking the Arts Education music course. The instructor makes the rhythms come alive by talking about their origin. Students gain an insight into African music and culture in an interesting and exciting way. Neil has a great talent in communicating with students, demonstrating his craft and adapting to suit the levels of the pupils. Students always feel that they are able to participate and grow in confidence due to his encouraging nature.’
‘Congratulations and thank you for facilitating Drum Nature workshops at the Imaginosity & TNCC Kids Stage Festival. We were extremely happy with the workshops and the feedback from people who attended the workshops was all very positive. Well done again.’
‘The reaction from the girls and boys was fantastic. Full participation makes it a memorable experience for every participant.’
‘Drum Nature are a professional and efficient company to work with, Neil catered for our large staff group very well (70 adults!) and adapted the session to meet our needs. The vast range of different instruments created a real atmosphere of creativity and energy within our group and was something very different that all staff will remember for a long time. I would recommend Drum Nature to any business, not for profit organisation, and community group looking for something to engage all staff into doing something they may not normally have the opportunity to do every day – making music and having fun!’
‘The Drum Nature workshop touched on a number of aspects of the music curriculum. It was very rounded in it’s approach - the children used listening skills, responded to rhythms, and of course performed many rhythms themselves - some children even got to conduct the ‘orchestra’ which allowed them to develop their musical creativity. The children thought the workshop was ‘the best!’ and loved that they had an instrument each’.
‘Neil facilitated three drumming workshops within the hospital. The workshops were a huge success and highlighted drumming’s potential as an accessible, fun and health promoting activity. Neil’s facilitation skills are excellent and he is able to encourage people with little musical experience to tap into their own sense of rhythm and creativity within a very short space of time. By the end of the session participants were smiling, more alert and animated and even improvising during a group rhythm. I would have no hesitation to recommend Neil to any health setting.’
‘45 action packed minutes of letting go. I couldn’t take the smile of my face. The children thought it was ‘deadly’ and already want to know when we can do it again’.
‘Thank you very much for such a fun evening, my first time drumming; it won’t be my last!’
‘The children really enjoyed being actively involved in music making. The workshop was both educational and enjoyable for the pupils, in all their diversity. There was a very positive response to the workshops generally; our only complaint was that they were over too quickly! We will definitely invite Drum Nature back again.
‘Excellent workshop - everyone was involved and the group discipline was fantastic for such a large group. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and also learnt a lot’.
‘A really positive experience for all the children. It appealed to the whole school. Very well conducted by Neil - held their attention absolutely at all times. wonderful rhythm and music making experience’.
‘Drum Nature gave us an afternoon to remember at our recent Staff Day. We were looking for something that people of all ages, physical ability and backgrounds could participate in and we certainly got that. The energy and atmosphere was electric, whilst people felt that they had created a vibe through the medium of music. Terrific!’
‘It was a hugh success, Neil was great at pitching it at the children’s level. They had a blast are well into drumming’.
‘Increased energy/mood, it was good fun and makes you concentrate and focus to improve your alertness; a good way to channel your alertness’.
‘I found the session to be fun, active and a great way to release stress. It was exhilarating and adrenaline rushing and a welcome interlude in what was, as ever, a full-on McKinsey workday.’
‘Excellent chance for the children to experience a professional drummer and have the use of their own drum. The music concepts were very well explained and demonstrated, along with the hands-on approach benefited them greatly. Thanks for the workshop’.
‘Big Up for the drumming on Saturday. Neil taught and led it very well and people seemed to be having a brilliant time. I loved it’
‘Children thought it was amazing! Really enjoyed the hands on approach. I was delighted with the good sense of rhythm the children have. Thank you. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to make lots of noise.’
‘Cool, brilliant, deadly, drumtastic, the business, loudtastic, animal!’
‘Neil was excellent. His instructions were clear and easy for the students to understand. Students were able to get stuck in and liked the fact that they weren’t being talked at the whole time. It was easy to tell from their faces that they were enjoying it immensely and I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a workshop in the library for them that they enjoyed as much.’
‘I have to say I thought that the drum workshop was excellent. As a teacher - Neil was very good. Gave good instruction and handled the group really well.'
‘Hugely enjoyable for children - well pitched to their level. I would highly recommend it!’
‘I enjoyed the workshop and the children really enjoyed it. It’s a good training for group dynamics - they have to listen to each other and follow instructions. It also gave a chance for those brave enough to stand in front of the group and give directions. The layering of sound was particularly good.’
‘The children really enjoyed the hands-on experience. I like the way they rotated to a different instrument. It was a fabulously enjoyable experience for all. Neil had their attention the whole way through - not an easy achievement I can assure you!’
‘An enjoyable experience for all. I felt that Neil communicated very well with the children. The session was well structured and I liked the progression throughout. Any further activities that Neil taught enhanced the development of beat, rhythm etc. Would always be a winner!
‘A really enjoyable experience and one which the children gained lots of experience. Great to give the children the chance to play the rhythms on their own and great use of tempo and rhythm patterns. Brilliant experience.
‘The feedback was excellent from all the kids the following week. They all really enjoyed it and despite some students' initial reluctance to get involved, they all said they would do it again if the opportunity arose.’
‘The drumming workshops were a great success. All the teachers were most impressed and felt that the pupils benefited from the experience. Full participation at all times meant that each child was fully occupied for 100% of the time!! Well done.’
